Mask Update 11-12-2020
The best way to avoid becoming a COVID-19 contact is to wear an N95 or KN95 mask. This is because N95 and KN95 masks are designed to block very small particles produced by coughing, sneezing, etc. When BOTH parties are wearing said mask, you are not considered a contact and will not have to miss work or school while in quarantine. Cloth masks and surgical masks are still considered effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19; however, if contact is made with a positive person, quarantine will be required. These masks are not capable of blocking these particles, but they are able to block large droplets and therefore help reduce COVID 19 transmission. There is also evidence that regular masks may help reduce transmission of the virus from people that are infected, but are not showing symptoms. This is why we encourage everyone to wear a mask.
Granite County Medical Center (GCMC) is testing for COVID-19. GCMC staff ask that you call ahead to arrange for testing at 859-3271. DO NOT GO INTO THE FACILITY TO GET A TEST! After you have called and arranged for a test, staff will meet you in your car at the Emergency Room bay to conduct the test. Tests are sent from GCMC to the State Lab at noon daily. Please try to arrange for testing before noon. Test results are taking from two to five days depending on the number of tests submitted that day. Please be patient.
